In the history of Jazz, pianist and bandleader Count Basie was –and still is –an American institution that personified the exuberance and excellence of that uniquely American music.  The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, today directed by Scotty Barnhart, has won 18 Grammy Awards, appeared in several movies and television shows, and has performed for presidents and royalty throughout the world.  Dubbed “The Most Explosive Force in Jazz”, the Orchestra is comprised of outstanding big band musicians, including some original members personally chosen by Count Basie himself.
